The Empress of Australia Opal is a remarkable precious opal in the world. This majestic opal was mined from the Phone Line. The opal was found in the year 1915. The credit of finding this beautiful opal goes to Urwin and Brown. The Empress of Australia Opal was first known as ‘Kaleidoscope Queen’. Then it came to be known as ‘Tartan Queen’. When the opal was first brought out it measured 3 x 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches. The Empress of Australia Opal was then cut and shaped out in a nice way so that the glowing patches of red in it were revealed to the maximum, making it a wonderful gem.
